I have spent a lot of time on this blog sharing with you the why behind coaching, the how with tips and techniques and the what’s next with my book reviews. Today, I wanted to share a little bit more about the who! The world of coaching is growing every year, so today I wanted to share with you ten reasons why I think I am the career and return-to-work coach for you or your small business!
So, here we go!
- I’m a doubly-qualified and experienced Coach.
I qualified in 2017 with a Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching but didn’t stop then. My Recent CPD includes Advanced Neuroscience, Introduction to Trauma Informed Coaching, and Coaching for Intuition. I use all of this in my coaching practice, which I have been running since 2015! I gained my most recent qualification, Level 1 Associate Coach Diploma, in 2024, Feel free to connect on LinkedIn.
- I have been working in careers and employability for over 20 years.
I started my career in 2001 working in consultative recruitment in the creative sector, then moved to higher level skills; I have a particular passion for working with smaller businesses. This continues in the work I do now.
- My interest in Psychology started in 1995, continued through my degree & hasn’t stopped.
That first day in my A-Level class opened my eyes to a science that I haven’t stopped learning about since then. In fact, I read personal development and psychology books in my spare time. You can check out some of the reviews here.
- I have an eye for polishing up a CV and have lost count of how many I’ve reviewed.
This is probably one of the “blind spot” skills; it’s something I do so instinctively now, that I don’t realise the levels of knowledge and insight it needs. I LOVE a skills-based approach and work with my clients so they can write their own CV. I don’t write it for them (The reasons why is probably another blog on its own)
- My consultative background means I have insights into a range of commercial settings and roles.
The background of my career is to answer the WHY? During my time in recruitment, I had both a new business and account management approach across the whole creative, marketing, it and communications sectors. Then it opened up to ANYONE who would take on a student or graduate. It’s amazing how many sectors and roles exist!
- I’ve worked in the private and the public sector; I’ve got leadership experience as well as the qualifications.
I’ve been a Branch Manager of a small organisation, and middle management in the higher education sector; leading teams of varying sizes. So, when I say I “sit” in between the role of the team member and the seat of the manager, I really do have the stripes!
- I look at the whole person; a career to enjoy starts with understanding YOUR version of success.
You can be returning to work after your maternity leave, looking for a new job or building your career confidence, the baseline is the same. What do you want? Sometimes, clients think they don’t know. The power of coaching gently uncovering the answers, then creating the action
- As a lifelong learner, I collect knowledge to improve my support; from personality profiling tools, Mental Health First Aid to Personal Development Books.
At the time of writing, I am working toward my second coaching qualification! All of my learning is embedded into my coaching, mentoring and training. These theories are the framework of my work!
- I’m an avid writer; you can “try before you buy” with my blog and my book!
All the content is me. Spelling mistakes and all. I find that sharing thoughts, tips and recommendations through my blog and socials means you can get a feel for who I am. I hope it feels like a conversation.
I also shared my baby loss journey, such an important part of my life journey, in my book “What Now?” which I self-published in 2018.
- I have a particular passion for working with small businesses.
I have spent my career predominately supporting the leaders and employees of SMEs (less than 250 employees). I love nothing more than becoming part of their team, and being able to respond to their wellbeing and coaching needs! No organisation is too “small” to benefit from coaching and wellbeing workshops! It’s my mission to spread that message further.
Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope this has given you a little more insight into who I am, and why I am the best coach for you!
