Today I spent the day in the company of some amazing people, as part of the Meta Provocateur launch; surrounded by inspirational ladies in a group coaching environment. As practical minded parent coach, working for myself, I often spend days on my own with nothing but a laptop and Absolute 90s for company. Having people to challenge and hold me accountable is one of the few things I miss from being employed.
Yes, you heard that right; a coach looking to be coached!
One of today’s activities included developing a business and life vision board. What we wanted to DO, BE and HAVE.
I won’t lie, my default setting for anything crafty is to move as far away from the scissors and glue as fast as I can.
Today, I wasn’t in control of the agenda.
I suspended my cynicism and dove straight in. I let my eyes drift across the magazines and tore out everything that I was drawn to.
I have to admit, it was AMAZING. I ended up on the floor with some craft scissors and glue and was genuinely gutted when the lovely facilitators told us to stop.
A great quote from today was that “outside of your comfort zone is where the magic happens”. Too many people feel like their comfort zone “stretch” has to be something monumental which creates a great life transformation; however, small daily steps will create amazing change. Often, these aren’t recognised until your reflect back on the progress you have made.
For me, in the space of four-hours, I have gone from a brain-storming, action setter to an aspiring creative with a visual representation of my goals; who knows what will happen next, now my creative side has been unleashed!
Next time you come up against something that makes you feel uneasy, do it (as long as it’s legal and safe!) Who knows what journey that movement will take you on!
