“Find out who you are, then do it on purpose”. Dolly Parton
I couldn’t think of anyone better to open this month’s email than words from the amazing Dolly Parton. What an inspiration! I am aiming to “be more Dolly”; are you?
I’m back at my desk after a lovely August, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new places. We are getting ready for some changes; my eldest is off for a “year abroad” as part of her degree, and my youngest is starting her first GCSE year. Like so many things in parenting, just when you think you have it all settled and predictable, another life transition comes along. Once you get your head around this, a new chapter in your life begins!
Because of this, I’m having what the professionals call a “soft start” into the month; however, I’m still here for clients, and for those of you who wish to start September with purpose!
As always, here are the dates for your diary:
Thursday 17th September: Read Along Book Blog
I’ve changed things up a bit with the read-along, and I only publish my review (rather than the “chat” in the Facebook group). It gives a bit more time for you to read the book (if you wish), and you can reply to the review itself!
This month I’m reviewing “All the Feels: How Technology can change our emotional lives for the better” by Pamela Pavliscak. I’m intrigued by this title and how it makes us consider how to “survive and thrive in the digital age”. I hope you will join me!
*This is an affiliate link to my bookshop. You can pick the book up in many places!
Monday 21st September, 12:30-1 pm Ask Me Anything
The regular question-and-answer session is back. A chance for you to pick my brain on ANYTHING: career, confidence, balance, business or books! Oftentimes, September feels like a new start, so maybe you want to get some insight into job searching or business development? Either way, you can ask your question via hello@thebalancecollective.co.uk.
As usual, get a feel for the previous Q&A through this archive!
Insight call availability
My diary is now open, with slots scheduled until December. So, if you have been thinking about coaching, for yourself or your team, or chatting about corporate career wellbeing training, I’m here, ready and waiting to chat!
Over this twenty-minute call (or voice or video!) you can share your situation and needs, and I’ll give you an insight into how I work. No pressure; it’s not hard sales. Instead, it’s a chance for you to understand how I can help you create a career to enjoy, not endure.
If you want to get some more insight into who I am, these posts may help!
The road to today started with the day I got my GCSEs.
When I started my Psychology Degree, I was planning to be a Child Psychologist. By the end of my third year, I’d discovered recruitment.
YOU NEED TO STOP ASKING YOUR FRIENDS FOR ADVICE.
My monumental career and life change came when I was 36 years old.
Last month’s blog
When I take my summer break in August, this usually includes writing blogs. However, one managed to make its way onto the site before I had my summer break. So, in case you missed it, here it is in all its glory:
When is the best time to make a change in your career?
Before I go, I wanted to share a blog that I think is perfect for this time of year- one you could say needs to be reshared every year.
Are you ready for a September reset?
Whatever you are up to this month, I’d love to hear from you!
Bye for now
