I work for myself. Why would I need a CV?

Sound like you?

CV is needed by self employed parents

How are you showing your skills off?

What do you think a CV is for? To get an interview? To show how you are right for a job? A tick box exercise for HR Managers?
Ultimately, a CV is a profile showing what you can do and how you can fill the skills a company needs!
Replace the word “CV” with a personal profile, services, portfolio or bio; more relevant?

The fundamentals of searching for a job can also be applied when you are promoting your services or business. When recruiting, I want to know what makes you tick and what you can do for me; exactly the same things that a client looks for when they are searching for a new freelancer or service.
Answer these five questions to start showing off the world the amazing things you can do:
1. What results you will give your clients.
2. How you get these results for them.
3. Why you do it. This is the place to show your values, your journey to where you are now.
4. How can you show your knowledge? Add in testimonials from clients, video links to speeches or blog posts!
5. Where is your evidence that you are a credible option or authority? This can be through qualifications and / or experience.

The first thing I do when I meet someone is to check out their Linkedin profile. It worries me greatly if I can’t find them! What is worse though, is if they have a profile with no information! Second, I go and find their website.
Changes in technology are innovating the way we find business and jobs (I will cover this off more next week!) In the meantime, work through these five questions to make sure your glorious skills shine!
