I’ve had a realization. One that, if I’m honest, I’m a little embarrassed about. Maybe the clarity has come from having a longer break over the summer; a chance to clear my head. It may even be triggered by actually returning to the overflowing in-box, and wondering what my plan is for The Balance Collective for the rest of 2022. Either way, the outcome of this insight is within this blog. I’ve realized you probably don’t know how I can help you create a career to enjoy! So today, I’ll be answering the question “How can I work with you as your Coach”. These are the most frequently asked questions about coaching.

Like all types of communication, it’s harder to see where the gaps are when you are in the middle of the conversation. Most of the people I speak to be it, clients or colleagues, understand what I do. They are either working with me right now, or they help me deliver my work. But, there is a whole host of people, maybe like you dear reader, who like what I share on this blog, but aren’t clear on how we can work together.

So, let’s put this simply, if I may: I am a Career and Balance Coach. I work predominately with parents, either directly as an individual, or with you via your workplace, to help you create a career to enjoy. This can be through 1:1 coaching sessions, where either you pay, or you are funded through your employer. It can also be through well-being workshops; which, at the moment, are focused on the corporate world; in non-jargon speak that means your organization will pay for your space, and you just commit your time and attention.

I’m going to assume you are after 1:1 Coaching but are wondering what that looks like. If this is a space you are interested in, I won’t be the only coach you are following on social media, nor the only place you are consuming your personal development content.

But you have some questions, so let me answer them right now:

Will you tell me what to do?

No! From returning to work to finding the next place to rest your career hat, the tools and techniques I use help guide you to the possible options (yes, did you notice the plural!) but the decision is all yours.

When do you coach?

It is during the school day, and you have the convenience of a diary link to book sessions when they suit you! My preference is via Zoom, but I also coach via telephone. This means I am not location-dependent, only time zone!

Do you help me develop my interview confidence?

Yes, from honing a skills-based CV to practising your interview technique, that is part and parcel of the coaching practice. You provide me with the role overview, and I provide bespoke feedback for your CV and/ or your interview!

How much does it cost?

I have a social mission, and within that is the wish to make coaching accessible and affordable. I have a Fast & Focused package, which most people use for CV work, as well as a four-session and six-session coaching package, where you can expand the scope of what you do. The latter includes my often-discussed DISC profiling and reflective SOIR sessions! These three packages vary in price and start from £150.

What can I access for free?

Well, the first place is right here on this blog! If you have time, go back through the previous articles to see how they can help you. If you are after something even more personalized, then I run term time ask me anything sessions; they are exactly as they sound. You ask me a question, and I answer it! It’s run within my Facebook Group, so if you aren’t already part of it, join here.

Do you work with businesses?

Yes, from smaller not-for-profit organisations to multisite, international corporations, I offer both 1:1 coaching and workshops to develop the well-being of the team. What does that mean for you as an individual? Potentially your employer could fund my support for you to return to work or develop the next step in your career.

Am I coachable?

This is a great question to ask yourself, and one that I can’t answer for you. I can tell you that some core traits will make any coaching relationship work: commitment to the process and openness to the approaches are the two that I see correlate with a successful outcome!

What this looks like is simple; booking and attending regular sessions, engaging with the sessions honestly and being non-judgmental (primarily with yourself) and finally, following through on any actions you agree to during the coaching session. If you want to find out more about these important points, including finding time for coachingand if coaching is right for you.

If you have read through all of this, and it only leaves you with the question, when can I start, then the next step is simple. Book a call so we can discuss the best way I can help you, and we can get the ball rolling. Have I missed a question that you have been burning to ask? Pop it over to me at hello@thebalancecollective.co.uk and maybe you will find the answer in my next blog article.
