I don’t think I will ever run out of topics to discuss regarding boundaries and balance; I can’t encourage people and places to create a career to enjoy, without encouraging everyone to think about the links between work and wellbeing. It cannot be, and must never be, considered irrelevant or unable to be influenced. Today, I want to remind you of the four boundary blogs from 2025 you need to read!
If you haven’t already, make sure you get up to speed with the previous articles, all neatly wrapped in one blog. In this, I share with you my thoughts, tips and theories on self-compassion, balance boundaries, the mental load, and the power of application over just consuming information. Once you have got those under your belt, it’s time to move onto the next set!
The four boundary blogs from 2025 you NEED to read!
Why you need to pay attention to your (and your kids) hormones!
Why don’t we make 2025 the year that we acknowledge that half of the population exists on a monthly hormonal cycle? When you understand what works for you, then the next phase in your life begins. A way to create a career to enjoy, a week at a time, rather than enduring by working against what you need.
Get clear on your financial boundaries
In my review of “Money Talks” by Ellie Austin-Williams, I shared how this book is excellent for anyone looking to change their mindset around money. It’s not about accumulating or “getting rich quick”, but instead about asking us to reflect on our relationship with money, and what we can do to create a life that links money with happiness and opportunity, not struggle. If you are looking for something to help you understand finance – such as investments or savings- then this isn’t the book for you. But I think it’s the first one you need to start with to get you ready to create the financial life you want.
Learn how to balance your energy when you love your work!
When I mention balance, often people respond with by thinking about imbalance,” but what happens when you love what you do? This is a topic that is often not discussed but is equally important within the world of career coaching. When your work is extremely rewarding, having the ideal weighting between challenge and achievement, it can be hard to “turn off”. This is made especially difficult when technology allows you to continue researching, responding, and writing at the touch of your fingertips! This may look like longer hours, expanding your responsibilities beyond the “Job description” or even taking up literal space in your home, as well as space in your diary.
Learn how to assert your boundaries better.
How often are we told just to say what we need? We all wish it could be that easy! Reality is much more complicated and layered by real and imagined challenges, which can lead to avoidance and overwhelm. Today, I want to discuss how you can overcome discomfort when asserting yourself, the question for June’s Ask Me Anything.
Before we start, I want to reassure you that this comes not only from a professional but also from a personal place. While I work with clients on this issue, I also strengthen this skill in myself. I didn’t get a “magic boundaries button” with my coaching certificate (although, how amazing would that be!). It is something that everyone can work on, develop and get more comfortable with.
