“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.” Audre Lorde
I have opened the July email with a wonderful quote from Audre Lorde. As 24th July is International Self-Care Day, I think it’s a great reminder to start the month with!
With this in mind, I’ve also shared a quick mid-year check-in, so you can continue as you mean to go on for 2026. It covers values, self-care, reflection and celebration, so you can pick one or all of these. Head over to Instagram or LinkedIn to find them. If you aren’t on socials, just email me and I can send them too you!
Now, over to the rest the plans for July!
Personal Development Book is The Courage to be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga
“Stop people-pleasing and achieve true happiness. Millions have already benefited from the wisdom dispensed in The Courage to Be Disliked, its simple yet profound advice showing us how to harness our inner power to become the person we would like to be.
A philosopher and a student have a discussion. Their conversation reveals a profoundly liberating way of thinking: by developing the courage to change, set healthy boundaries and resist the impulse to please others, it is possible to find genuine and lasting happiness.”
I am very much looking to reading this, and sharing my thoughts in the blog on the 29th July; hopefully you will join me?
The personal development blog reviews will be on a break over August (although the reading won’t stop!) and then back in September.
This is my bookshop link (as before, if you click through and buy, I may get a small commission). But, as the book was published in 2019, there is likely to be copies in second-hand book shops and your library!
If you want some inspiration, check out the previous titles.
Ask Me Anything
This will be pausing over the summer (so July and August), but will be back on it for September. However, feel free to ask any question you may have in Creating Careers to Enjoy, and I’ll get back to you!
Need to catch up?
Here are last month’s blog posts, ready and waiting for you! Please feel free to share with anyone who you think would benefit.

Summer schedule
I will be around, albeit on a reduced schedule over the summer. From the week commencing the 13th July, I will have coaching and insight call availability on two days a week, usually on a Tuesday and a Thursday.
All available time is now in my diary until and including the 3rd September.
So, you don’t need to wait to start your coaching process. You can book an insight call here. This link is for both individuals who wish to work with me directly and organisations seeking coaching or workshop support.
Whatever you have planned this month, I hope it includes some R&R
As always, if you need anything, just hit reply!
Until next time
